About the Owner
Scarlet opened its doors in 2004, at the hands of the previous owner, Jeanne Johansson. She set the foundation of Scarlet- offering Little Rock women a place to find a mix of up-and-coming & tried-and-true labels, as well as a place to learn a little more about themselves. Her personal brand of style—unstudied, unexpected and always cool—and ability to express herself through clothing was infectious. Girls wanted a place where the rules didn't apply, where fashion was about what you wanted to wear and not what the runways told you to wear, and Scarlet offered that.
After 16 years, the torch was passed to new owner, Emi Gillum, a Scarlet girl since working here along side the OG crew in high school. After graduating from USC, at only 24 (just like Jeanne!) Emi set her sights on acquiring Scarlet. She became the official owner in February, 2023.
Scarlet has become the go-to retailer for both the cool girl who is going somewhere and the girl who couldn't care less where she ends up, as long as she makes a statement along the way. Every day, the Scarlet team continues to create individualized, magazine-worthy looks that never feel forged. Emi's goal is to keep the foundation of Scarlet going for years to come, being one of the top retailers in Little Rock, serving all of Arkansas & growing the online presence, reaching worldwide customers.
